Cutting of my internet.

My internet service was cut of from my ISP, Road Runner. They cut me off because someone complaint about me spamming them, which I did not. I got it up and running again because they said it may have been a virus when I called for support. Now I would like to know if there are any ISP's out there that don't do this crap? And how does this spamming thing work, does it mean spamming E-mail or sites? And could using a web based proxy prevent this if all ISP's operate this way?

Thanks in advance for any help.:)

There aren't really good ISP they are all the same road runner has nice speed but bad customer service/stability on their speeds, verizon has stable speeds but has bad speed/overprice/bad customer service, earthlink is pretty much similar to RR.

I agree with everyone's post on this thread. Spamming happens if you send tons of e-mails constantly to unsolicited e-mails. I'm sure you weren't doing that... I heard a rumor if you are at a cafe -coffee cafe with your notebook... and accessing e-mail or anything that requires you to log on to the internet, someone is scooping up your information and using it against you.

Which can be a very serious problem!

You need to log on with some encrypted security when you visit those cafes, bookstores, etc.

The only thing that could have caused this, unfortunately... unless you or somebody used your computer with/ without your knowledge and did it!

JMHO!

I use AT&T, don't have any problems with them. The speed is definitely not a T1, but I'm okay with it.

I use AVG Free instead of Norton or McAffee. I lost three hard drives to Norton. Why pay for something that doesn't work when you can get the good stuff free?

Another thing you can do to protect yourself from email trojans is to create a fake email address. Use [email protected] and put the nickname as AAA. If you open an infected email, it will immediately go to the first contact in your address book. In this case your fake one, AAA. It will shoot an email to AAA, and once it comes back as a bad address, it will shut down assuming all the contacts are bad.
