daemon problems

I recently got daemon tools and I got it installed but i dont know how to work it, do you double click on it to start it up then do somethin from there or do you run a game as daemon tools or what?

when I double click on the icon it has the hour glass for about a second then it goes back to a normal cursor then nothing happens, I checked task manager and it doesn't say it is running.

I'm not going to use it for anything illegal of course, The Cd's on my desk are just taking up too much space and im too lazy to search through drawers to find em.

so any help would be appriciated, thanks!

you right click on the icon it gives you on the system tray area then go to virtual cd/dvd. then go to mount image, find your disk image file and select it. it should then autorun the disk image

I dont understand why you're using daemon tools if you dont know what a disk image file is.
Basically an disk image file is a copy of a disk as a file on your computer, its normally used by programs such as nero for copying disks

ok, i see now

so when you install a game onto your computer does it create one of these on its own or do you have to do something to create it? because I can find the cd and the file when i'm supposed to be selecting the disk image file but it wont let me select it, i choose it but then it opens up into more stuff, like a folder.

I'll see if i can get some images up

First off, why exactly are you using Daemon Tools? What are you trying to do with it?
so where would this disk image file be?
You need to make an image of a disc, there's nothing automatic about that.

I would like to be able to access allof my games that are on cd's without having to switch them all the time, this would also clear some space off of my desk so I could do that stuff.... um.. homework lol (but seriously, more room to do homework)

how would you create an image of a disk?

to create a iso file you need cd burning software like nero that can create these type of files. im not sure if there are any free programs that do this, but on www.download.com there are a couple of shareware programs.

how would you create an image of a disk?
Alcohol 120 and Nero should work. Personally I use Alcohol 120. Not too sure about free/shareware. You might have to deal with some copy protected CDs which can be a pain (see the CD\DVD 101)

ok, I got the iso image selected in daemon but it isn't auto-running. is there a way to like click on something and make it run?

EDIT- ok i put the actual disk in the drive and the splash screen came up and playing the game is not an option, I did put the correct disk in. any ideas? btw this is bf2

Certain games have copy protections that make the game "un-playable" as long as you have e.g. Daemon-Tools and/or Alcohol 120%. It usually says in the manual/readme of the game if those programs affect the "playability" of the game.

oh, ok well I re-installed BF2, and unmounted all the images then deleted those so i started clean, then i got it to work but I have to re-mount the image every time I want to play, is this normal? or is it just because I have the trial version of alcohol 120?
