damage from power outage?

Yesterday we had a large storm that knocked the power out for about 14 hour. When the electricity came back on, the computer started without being turned on. The problem is that it doesn't bootup and the screen remains dark. If I turn the main switch in the rear off and the on, it starts running without using the start button on the front, but again nothing happens. I should have unplugged it til power was restored, but I didn't. It isn't the monitor as I hooked a different one up and still get nothing. I kind of think the motherboard was damaged, but I am no expert on this.

The power fan and side fan are running. About every second, the side vent fan seems to cut out for an instant. Thats new. The thing is, the front switch does nothing . The only way to stop the computer is either unplug it or switch it off from the rear. When you switch it back to the on position, it lights up and the fans start running again, but computer wise, nothing shows up on the screen.
I don't smell any thing burnt when I get close to the psu fan. The cpu fan is also running.

Edit: The psu is an Antec neopower 550
The motherboard is an ECS socket 754 w/Athlon64 3400 Clawhammer

Thats a good start. the MOBO dont smell at all does it...
No, I don't smell anything.
I installed a Sempron chip that I know is good and got the same result.
Good tips though. I never thought of using my nose to check things.

well if you plugged it directly into the wall and not a power strip you should go to a store...happened to one of my computers and all the computer did was flash a yellow light on the case.

Thanks leSHok, I came to the same conclusion. I ordered a motherboard from NewEgg this morning. Think I'll breakdown and get a surge protector too.
