Damn annoying problem with Dell Mobo?

I originally thought it was the HDD problem so I made a post in the HDD section of the forum...
http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=48300

But now I think it's a mobo problem or setting that's not enabled or something.
so I installed 2ndary Optical drive where I plugged in my old HDD and seems like it's having the exact same problem when I try to read from a CD. so I tried many different combination thinking the IDE cable is messed up. (It was the last option I tried) but same results with different cable and now I'm pretty angry and not sure what else to do...

Anybody might know a trick to Dell mobo that something I don't know? Please help if you can... :(

Hmm well simply put the 2ndary/slave connection for my DVD writer wasn't working right. The solution was turning on the detection for the slave drive in bios. But for some reason it still didn't work... but it seems to work when I change the slave/master with my other drive. So I'm just leaving it at that.

Btw Dell Tech support SUCKS BIG TIME! Unhelpful punks
