darn kids!

hello,
i work at a school and some of the students have gotten into my laptop :( its running XP.
the mouse works, but the double clicking of a desktop icon pops up the properties screen instead of running or opening the

icon.
click on a quick launch icon (bottom left) brings up the properties again.
the keyboard does NOT type in anything. instead the 'f' and 'h' key are either arrow left/right or arrow up/down.
as you can see, this is a mega problem and i can't figure it out at all, any ideas of what they did or how to get things

back? (would prefer to NOT do a system restore point)

Once you get this figured out, set an account with password up.

And when your away from the computer, turn it off and they wont be able to get on.

hehe why do you let pesky little students near YOUR computer anyway? I would keep my stuff to myself. I feel sorry for the computers that school kids use, kids don't seem to have any respect for other peoples property. I bet if they had a laptop like that they would take very good care of it.

And in regaurds to your issue, I think tlarkin has the answer, sometimes I have numlock turned on on my USB keyboard I use for my laptop, I go to take my laptop outside and all of a sudden my U key is a 4 and my I a 5 etc etc.

Oh, put a password on return from screen saver, and make the screen saver pop up after only a minute or two.
