data execution prevention nightmare!

hi there.

everytime i try to go my computer, control panel, recycle bin or virtually anything needed to control my computer, i get a notice reading "data execution prevention".

i don't know how or y this is happening. apparently the only way to switch it off is via control panel which i can't open.

help!

p.s. i am on windows xp.
 
You should be able to disable execute disable bit or NX (depending on your processor) in the BIOS.
 
or also you can disable dep by right-clicking My computer-->Properties-->go to "advance" tab-->settings for "performance-->then the DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION tab..you'll see
