Data recovery from external hard-drive

Hi everybody! I was wondering if anybody could help me with this problem.

It started as usual: I unplugged the usb without any security, in a rush, and as you can imagine, the problem is that i lost some information in it.

The thing is, though, that the information is lost in an unsual way. It's not blocked or just vanished, it's still there but in a strange form. The computer still recognises the drive. There are some other folders that remain visible and usable. But some other folders have somehow turned into some more folders and files (unkown format files, not folders anymore) with weird names.

I've tried recoverying the info with several programs; MediaHeal, DiskHeal, GetDataBack for NTFS, Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery, etc. But nothing works, they either tell me the drive is too corrupt to analyse, or that there is nothing wrong with it or even that there is nothing inside it.

The fact is that when i mouse-over the files or folders i still can see their size. Information is still there as there are some gigas still left in those files.

So... what do you suggest? I have a lot of valuable stuff there.

Thanks a lot

Irene

Your only chance for recovering the data is to send it to a data recovery firm. Your not going to be able to fix this with software recovery programs. I know this isn't the news you want to hear but sometimes things like this are too gone to fix yourself. Drive recovery services are very expensive so you'll have to get a few places out and decide if the data you have if worth it or not. On a side note if the data is that valuable to you then you in the future will want to back that data up. USB external drives are very pron to corruption.

You can try to use R-Studio, it's simple to use and very powerful for the cost of it. If you can not recover your desired data with this software, then it will be time to send it to a professional data recovery center. Such as:
Data Recovery Orlando
Data Recovery Tampa
Data Recovery Jacksonville
or any other data recovery center that has a class 100 cleanroom and will not break the bank:)
But try R-Studio first, you can download a trial copy of this software. Good Luck!
