how would i go about retreaving data from a hard drive thats been dropped and sounds like it is trying to retrieve data.

Can you read it at all in a computer? If not, then your only option is a data recovery center.

if the drive is mechanically damaged, you may have to transfer the platters to a new drive

data recovery is really for files that got deleted, or formatted over on drives that still function

buy an identical drive, same make model and size, dismantle the broken one and take the disks from one and put it into the new one.
the disks are fragile so be feckingly careful,make sure theyre in the right order too, for obvious reasons

Please don't do this unless you have a clean room. Replacing the contorl panel is one thing but the platters is another entirely
