Data Transfer from one PC HD to another

Hi all. I have my old XP Pro computer right next to the new one I'm going to be building, which will be an i5 running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate vers.

I realize I can transfer files via file sharing and my router, but, is there a faster way? Since they are so close, is there a USB solution, and if so, anyone know the simplest best choice?

Also, I'm going to be visiting the show Sunday in Meriden, if there is a good usb solution is there a vendor I should be looking at.

Any links would be greatly appreciated.

Either put the old drive in the new system to transfer or use a usb to hard drive adapter such as this.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm aware of that option, but I was wondering if anyone had any hands on knowledge of data transfer things like this one ....

Wondered how good, or fast they may be as opposed to file sharing via the router.

The transfer cables will be faster than transferring over the network cable/wifi.

I'd get an adapter like what John recommended. It's a lot easier to deal with because you don't have to worry about drivers and such. Also helps if you ever have a computer that just won't turn on. The USB transfer cable you're looking at would be useless in that case.
