data transfer

I had dell inspiron 5150, there were many many many problems with it, dell finally decided to send me a brand new computer, i now have the inspiron 9400. The hard drives are different and i have no way of getting my info off my old hard drive unless i do a data transfer. I was wondering if anyone here could help me out so i could do this on my own insted of paying $250 to have it done... if anyone can help please let me know! THANKS!!!!

do you know what brand? and type of hd it is? if it's a Maxtor ATA, yoi\u could go right on the Maxtor site, and download MaxBlast for Windows, and it will transfer all the files, including the OS.
