I seen awile back that there was no big advantage by switching. Would it be worth it to switch now??

Gigabyte ga790ud4p
G.skill 4gig 2x2 1066
Phenom 550 @ 3.8
hd 4870

I wouldnt if you're just upgrading but maybe if you were to build a new PC then yer go for it but upgrading there is no need plus you'll have to upgrade you're motherboard to.. so my answear is NO :)

I agree with previous posts. Upgrading to DDR3 memory would not be worth it presently. You have got a good processor and decent RAM presently. Are you experiencing bottlenecks with your current system?

No, my machine runs very well crisp and smooth. I am however, thinking about setting up raid 0 with my two WD 500 harddrives to boost speeds running large applications.

I tried raid0 and I gotta say for the performance I didn't notice much except it liked to corrupt and lose all my data.

Id rather get a raptor drive and not worry about raid array corrupting all the time.

As Twist86 stated, if one hard drive setup in RAID 0 crashes you will lose all data on all hard drives set up in RAID 0.

The little extra speed you get is not worth the risk in my opinion.

So.. raid 0 is not a good chioce??

I have never set it up before but.. did not seem too bad.

I am going to backup all my important data before i wipe the drives so.. is raid 0 just unreliable to use??

I have the WD 500gig black hardrives and was plannign on using the gigabye raid controller.

VelociRaptors are great drives, I have one, but they're over priced, and not the fastest.

The Samsung drive on top is a 1TB 7200rpm drive that Newegg lists for $84.99.
(out of stock right now though)

As much as that is a pretty quick drive, im not really sure on how reliable the current generation samsung drives are, their older drives werent the most reliable drives out there, not sure if things have changed however but for $84.99 thats probably a pretty good deal.
