DDR memory question

I am new t this site & know enough about computers to be dangerous. I have a Gateway 510X with P4 dual processor. It has 4 memory slots,with 2 256 sticks of ram. Is it possible to put 2 512 sticks in the other 2 slots? Thanks Al

Yes it is. Your system should have come with PC2700.

Thanks for the answer,I do not know what the 256 sticks are but the 512 sticks are PC3200. Al

That should still be fine, they will run at the slowest speed.
