DDR or DDR2

Alright, xmas is only a few months away, so I was sitting there the other day and was thinking, that for xmas I was going to get a new cpu and mobo, Well, I was thinking should I go with a mobo that supports ddr2 ram or ddr, now If I got a mobo that supported ddr2, then I would have to buy new ram, and therefore, not being able to get my x1900xtx..So, is it really worth getting the DDR2 ram??

Im not sure yet, Id love to squeeze in an e6600, but I dont see it happening :C, most likely an amd athlon 64 X2 4000+, 2GB (2x1gb) dual channel OCZ.

Why not an E6300, Gigabyte GA965P DS3, and 2x1GB of Corsair XMS DDR2 800? The E6300 overclocks very well, and the Gigabyte motherboard has enough options and stability to do it.

yea, with shipping thats about 350 bucks, and Id have to buy new ram, so Im not sure what I want to do yet..but, I know the X2 and a nice mobo is only a little over 200$.

Links? I don't know of anywhere where an X2 processor is under $150, then a good motherboard is around $125, though you can get worse ones. Just think, though: an overclocked E6300 is well worth the extra money. It outperforms a X6800 at stock speeds if you get it over 3.1Ghz. You can easily go over 2.8Ghz, most over 3.0 and beyond.

Are you serious? So you mean to say my 3.25 Ghz E6300 is performing better than an X6800!?

Can I have some links where it said that? Thanks :)
