Ddr Ram

Hi

Im buying a new pc... its got 2048mb 533MHz DDR RAM. Should I pay an extra 50 or so pounds to make it 2048mb 800 DDR RAM as I am told 533 is slow. Will it make much of a difference and is it worth it?

I'd pay for the upgrade if the motherboard could handle it. Of course, if the motherboard could only use 533MHz RAM, it'd be pointless. (800MHz will work in a 533MHz board, it would just run at only 533MHz)

For sure. Even if the motherboard only runs at 533 it's worth it. It is a lot easier to overclock with the higher spec'ed RAM than it is with the 533.

Thats if he doesnt have a pre-built machine.

I would deffinetly go with that upgrade. And it's DDR2, not DDR, but not a big deal. :)
