what are the real advantages of having DDR2, it seems they produce alot mreo heat and the timings are alot higher. wouldnt this be bad? i dont understand the differences.
ReturnToEmpire said:ok but what does that assist in? if their timings are lower arent they essentially slower than regular DDR
Thats because the RAM wasnt the bottleneck, most likely the CPU or the gfx card was... and RAM doesnt directly affect game FPS anyway, it assists in loading times etc.... The thing you want to look at on DDR2 RAM is its maximum bandwidth, it is excessively igher/faster than stabdard DR memory modules.that showed very little increase in FPS during GAMing using DDR2 vs DDR
Higher RAM clocking = more bandwidth. PC2700 has less bandwidth than PC3200. The timings are how many clock cycles it takes for something to happen. Also, DDR2 has significantly more bandwidth I think, which is always a good thing.
