DDR2 800MHz vs 1066MHz

Is there really that big of a difference?

I have 800 in my rig right now and I know its capable of 1066. I'm looking to get new RAM and probably will get 1066, but will I really see any performance gain?

I would think if you had the same amount of RAM it would be the same. I've got old RAM running for me and it doesn't seem like much of a difference compared to the 800.
