Corsair value select for pc3200 is $82 while DDR2 value select at pc5300 is only $75. What's the point? Will 5300 in am2 be slower than pc3200 in 939? Is 800 speed DDR2 ram the equivalent of pc3200 in 939?

As long as the other system specs are the same, it will be faster.

No, it is much faster, more like the equivalent of PC6400 in 939 (if such a thing existed)

If that is the case, then why do all the benchmarks and performance reviews show little to no performance gain for socket 939 pc3200 and socket am2 800? :(

well the latencies of DDR2 ram is higher than the latencies of DDR ram, thus countering the higher clock speeds. Plus, amd hasn't came up with a very efficient memory controller for their am2 line yet..i think.
