I was reading Praetor's sticky "CPU 101" and the last thing he wrote in Section 2 was "- No AMD setup as of yet supports DDR2. And no it's not backwards compatible."
I just purchased a AMD Athlon64 X2 6400 that Newegg had bundled with " CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4PRO - Retail". Now, I'm not sure when Praetor last updated his sticky, so my question is this:
Did AMD change the capability in the 6400, or does Newegg simply not know the difference and just bundled the memory for whatever reason? Thanks
