ddr2800 at 400?

I just finished my first build and I used 2 x 1gb sticks Wintec DDR2-800. I used a ASUS P5Be mobo and put the ram in dual channel slots 1 and 3. Computer runs great, fast, but when i ran cpu-z the memory page showed all the ram in the right slots but it is running at 400mhz DDR2400. why is this ? does dual channel cut the mhz in half ?
