DDR3 1066 or 1600?

I read that my i7 is just gonna default my ram down to 1066mhz no matter what and that the 1600 is for people who plan on overclocking which I don't plan on doing.

Well no, I want to know if my rams gonna default down to 1066mhz or not. If it is the 1600mhz is pointless for me to get.

Yes, your RAM will most likely default to the CPU's max supported speed, which is 1066.

You'll have to go into the BIOS and change the timings, and voltage if necessary.

Thanks, if i do decide to just go change the speed myself will there be any noticable difference? (for gaming)
