how come on newegg there is three different versions of DDR 1066 ram...

DDR3 1066 (8500)
DDR3 1066 (10600)
DDR3 1066 (10660)

Thanks!

i know that they have diffrent versions that some are more compact
(if you have an aftermarket cpu cooling system) some times the cooler gets in the way so you can't use the gigantic ram sticks (the slots are the same size but the sticks themselfs are diffrent).
i do not however know what each of the numbers refers to, i just gathered that from posts i have posted

you can look at pictures of the ram sticks to see what i mean

The numbers refer to the speed--the PC-8500 is another way of saying DDR3 1066. On Newegg I'm only seeing DDR3 1066 (8500), DDR3 1333 (10600), DDR3 1333 (10660), and DDR3 (10666). The differences between the three versions of DDR3 1333 don't matter.

I bought DDR2 675 back in the day that was slightly faster than DDR2 667--more in name than anything. It's the same with the DDR3--there's no real difference.

It's just small variations that the memory manufacturers make. There's no difference--ignore the different numbers. Just focus instead on the DDR 1066/DDR3 1333/DDR3 1600, etc.

Dont know how they round off the numbers on those others. But true DDR3 1333 would be PC3 10666, well rounded off from 10664
