DDR3 is seen as DDR2

I have a laptop running windows 7 starter 32 bit. I ran the crucial memory scanner to find out what kind of memory I had, and what my max is. It showed I have PC2-5300. when I cracked open the case, the memory stick is actually PC3-10600. Does my computer not see the true speed of my memory, or is their scanner not working properly?

I just want to make sure I'm getting full use out of my memory speeds.

It's possible that the scanner was wrong, but for that big of a difference it seems unlikely. Are you sure that you weren't just fed the PC-5300 dual channel, so it's really PC-10600 line?

What motherboard do you have? That way we can tell if it even supports DDR3.

But if the mother board is compatible with DDR3, then may be some addtional check needs to be done, or something like that?

Not sure what the Motherboard is, The laptop is a Lenovo Netbook.

The memory module has a sticker that says PC3-10600
