What's a good latency for DDR3 memory?

DDR3 is a waste of money and is not much better than DDR2. Your better off getting DDR2 and saving money.

Just buy fast DDR2!! No pc will ever be future proof EVER!! Although DDR3 isnt moving ahead very much and not very many people are buying it b/c there isnt much of an advantage over DDR2.

The best DDR3 I found was 6-5-5-18 from OCZ (with a huge heatsink) but the average seems to be arround 7-7-7-20. Still very expensive though.

It depends on the speed, as the speed increases so does the latency.

Exactly, having faster RAM isn't always better. It's best to have low latency RAM when the speed runs in a 1:1 ratio with the FSB.

So if I do the 1333FSB mod, then I should get 1333MHz RAM?

FSBs are quad-pumped, whereas DDR memory is only doubledatarate. So for 1333FSB you'd have your memory running at 667, which means that they're both running at clockspeed of 333MHz. (To get FSB clock divide rated FSB by 4, to get memory clock divide memory rating by 2). Do I make any sense??
