Dead flash drive... can I recover it?

My flash drive died and now neither my mac or pcs will recognize it. Is there any way I can fix it, transfer the memory, or something like that? Or can a professional computer shop fix it?

I'm pretty sure it was the result of a power surge of something like that. There's no physical damage.

I'm pretty sure once it's dead, there's no getting it back. it's not like a hard drive where it's stored forever. it's memory is flashed on and off by electricity.
