Dead hard drive data recovery

I desperately need your help.

I have searched the forum, but I have not found the exact solution I was looking for, so please help me.

Question:
I want to recover data from my internally damaged HDD.
I downloaded a software called "****** data recovery wizard". However, when I plug my dead HDD into my desktop PC through other SATA port, the PC completely freezes after finishing boot up and before I can do anything, making it impossible to recover the data.

Is there a way I can recover data? It's a really important data.
Please help me. Please.

Other information:
My desktop failed day before yesterday and it is unusable to a level that it cannot boot and disk checks by itself that will never end even after leaving it for a day. I suspected that it is most likely the HDD that died because my motherboard system menu was intact. I unplugged and replugged SATA and power plugs but nothing changed. Consequently, I bought brand new SSD and replaced the HDD, which got my PC back to life, so it is obvious that my old HDD is dead.

There is no apparent physical damage to the HDD and no bad noises can be heard so I am guessing that it's more of a fatal internal error. (Considering that it's a desktop PC, and I haven't moved it for half a year so no possible physical damage can be done).

Please help me. It contain two novels that I have been working on for an year, three important transcribed tablature for guitar that was yet to be released, and several data concerning my academic study (chemistry) that I am currently writing a paper on.
If I lose all of these, I am dead for sure. So please help me!!

NOTE:
Yes, I did back up my data to a USB flash drive but it died a week before my HDD died as my friend in the labs accidentally smacked my notebook PC with the USB plugged in that fell on to the floor USB first. My notebook PC was fine but it killed my USB flash drive that was relatively up to date with the backup data.
I bought an replacement but it did not make it on time as my desktop PC died before I could back up the data from the desktop PC. Seriously, worst timing ever.

Unfortunately the only thing you can do now is send it to a professional data recovery center and have them retrieve the data for you. It will cost quite a penny though, few hundred dollars at least. So hopefully the data isn't that important and can be recreated. Since the pc freezes once the drive is attached, there isn't much you can do.

Ah I see. I'll try the USB adapter, but if that doesn't do the magic, then I'm gonna forget it.
Experts are too expensive for a student like me to pay. I'll just apologize to people involved with my work.

We've used data recovery services where I work. You pay an average of $1500 without any guarantee they'll be able to recover anything off the hard drive. We've gotten lucky and have always gotten data off the hard drives, but even if they're only able to retrieve one file, you pay the full fee.
