Dead Hard Drive

I have a hard drive that will not do anything. Can't even get it to spin. What are my options for getting the data off the drive? Is one of the companies that take the drive apart and charge a ton of money the only way to get my data? I heard of someone replacing the circuit board on the hard drive has anyone tried this and does it work?

Taking it to the company is probably your best shot or take to someone you know that might have experience with that sort of thing.

You might want to try a usb to sata/ide adapter cable. You can get them online for about 20 bucks.

I don't know if it will work since the hard drive will not even come on. But I had a hard drive start clicking on me and I was not able to access the drive so I tried a sata/ide adapter cable and I was able to get all the files off of it before it died.
