Dead laptop screen

Hey, so I'm having a little trouble trying to use DBAN (Program to delete all files from computers so it's impossible to recover any data afterwards, the name of the program is Darik's Boot and Nuke, it's basically like a free Blacco) on a certain computer. Using the program is not a problem at all, I've done it to several computers (mostly laptops) before without any problems, but the thing with this one laptop is that the screen is really really broken, you can only see a white spot on it when you turn it on and nothing more. The computer works fine when Windows opens up, I can connect a secondary screen and it works like a normal computer, but what I need to do is boot up the computer from bios and then from an USB device but I can't see anything because the secondary screen I have goes black when I'm restarting or turning the computer on and nothing shows until Windows is open. I really need to see what I'm doing in BIOS so I can run the program and delete all data because the company I'm doing this for right now is going to donate all older laptops to poor countries and we don't want any data to be recovered just to be safe. So basically what I am wondering is how can I use a secondary monitor on this laptop that will work to see BIOS and what I'm doing in there. The laptop has VGA and DVI, it's an old HP ProBook 6550b. Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Just take the hard drive out and attach it to another system and run dban from there.
