i just transfered all my hardware into another case. when i plugged in the front panel wires to the connector on the motherboard and went to turn the computer on, it wouldnt turn on. i tried using the old on/off switch to turn it on but it didnt work. im pretty sure its a dead motherboard, but im not 100% sure. what are the symptoms of a dead motherboard?

do any of the fans start, does the psu start, are there any lights on the board
what board is it?
Did you use the standoffs?

are you 100% sure that you put the switch on the correct jumpers, have the power supply plugged into the mobo, and also any AUX power to the mobo. Is the PSU turned on at the back, plugged in and switched on at the wall

nothing starts. the power supply uv light flashed for a second, but nothing else. the board's an asus a7v8x -la (socket a). the case i bought (raidmax diamond) didnt come with any standoffs.

you really cant tell my looking at it if its dead or not. Do any fans turn on at all even for a second? are there any beeps? or does nothing happen at all?

then its a dead motherboard, if the lights and fans came on for a second or 2, then it would be a bad power supply.

1. You need stand offs
2. If thats originally a Dell machine, you need to use a Dell powersupply to power the motherboard on

ok thanks. do u have any recommendations for a cheap motherboard? im running low on money.
ASUS A8V8X-X and A8N8X-X with the latter being the better board
