Dead Pixel?

hi
i just bought a new moniter and when i hooked it up and turned it on their was a red pixel. Is that a dead pixel. I've always thought that dead pixels were black. If it isn't a dead pixel is there anyway to fix it?

Doesn't seem like a dead pixel, more like a stuck pixel if it's a color other than black. There's this site http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor but haven't a clue if it would work

Anyway, dead pixels are black, always white pixels are called hot pixels, and red, what you have, and other colors are called stuck pixels and can be fixed sometimes.

You could push on it, just don't push too hard. Some websites suggest to turn the monitor off, then push on the area, then turn it back on while still pushing.

You could also run one of those programs like the one TFT linked to.

You have a "stuck" pixel. Take your thumb or finger with the screen on, and "rub" on it firmly until it goes away. That will work 90% of the time.
