Okay, well im looking to buy a new laptop. My HP fell and the LCD screen cracked, and I'm about to move because of schooling and i cant be draggin around the laptop and a monitor for it all over the place, so I need to buy a new one. My price range was around 1k. I have already picked out 2 laptops that i Like from my local best buy. So im going to list the specs and if you could so kindly help me out in my decision, that would be terrific.

As far as what im looking to do with it, for one im a data network specialist in my job and what I go to school for. So i will be multi-tasking quite a bit, running different programs at once. I will be doing quite a bit of programing. I need a laptop with a good amount of ram and a good size hard drive, which both of these seem to have. I also play PC games, mainly WoW, but couple others too. Now both of these laptops seem to be pretty close but i do notice some differences. One has the Intel® Core™2 Duo mobile processor, and the other AMD Turion™ 64 X2 mobile technology TL-60. Now some people have told me that the intel is better, but the processor speed on the intel is 1.67, but the AMD is 2.0. Between the 2 there are some differences between the system bus, the cache memory, the video card memory and the ram. The laptop with the Intel processor has more ram (3gb, compared to 2gb in the other) but has less of a lot of other specs. And of course one has a HD dvd drive and the other does not.

That is generally what I see. Now I ask you to help me make the decision of which is better, for general day-to-day computing, multitasking, gaming, and so on.

I would be all over the amd computer!! Not that I care for the HD DVD drive, but the faster processor and system bus is where it's at! The extra 1 gig of ram in the intel computer is not a big deal!! you can get by on 2 gigs or upgrade the ram yourself! For about 80 bucks you can upgrade to the full 4 gigs of ram! Enjoy

You can also right click my computer, look in the properties, and check out how vista rates each PC

personally, im a fan of intel, and i am still holding out of buying either HD or blu ray, but if money is a factor, the AMD is a nice laptop for the price, and will save you a decent bit of cash. I also like the white color better than the red, not that that should determine what laptop to buy.
