deciding on a notebook

I have to buy a notebook for college this year and i had a question about which would be more sensible to get. My choices are a Sony Vaio with 100gb hard drive and a 1.66 ghz processor, or a Dell Latitude with 60gb hard drive and 1.83 ghz processor. Does the difference in processor for the Dell make up for the loss of space?

Space is getting a lot cheaper... You can always get an external HD if you need it. I saw a 400gb Seagate for 115$ as a weekend special... I have the dell 700m, which is a great pc, and not a HUGE ol thing.

I know that i can buy an external hard drive, but is the difference in processors really make that much of a difference. I would rather not have to spend any extra money for space

What is the price difference.. and what would you be using the laptop for? If only typing up school work and checking email.. save the money!

The prices are exactly the same. I'm mostly going to be using it for school work, but I will be using a webcam and probably will end up playing some games.

Personally I would go with the 1.8, and IF the need for more space comes up... then it is there. You can't upgrade a CPU.

Well you can, it's just alot harder and usually isn't worth it.

I would go with the 100GB + 1.66Ghz CPU if you think you will need alot of space, or if you think 60GB internal would be fine, then go with the 1.83Ghz notebook.

Ok, well I'd have to say the Vaio looks cooler and i know has more space, but is there going to be a noticeable difference between processors, or am i not really going to br able to tell?

In games... yes. OTher things, will be ok (depending on the amount of ram of coarse)... but dont have a lot of programs open, everything will be fine.

I would choose the sony one. That is because you will mostly use it for school. And also because you have a bigger hard drive for other stuff you might need.
