Hey!

What would be better to have in a laptop, in your opinion.

a
17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD with Clearview Technology

insted of
17" WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD with Clearview Technology

OR

160GB (80GB x 2) 7200 RPM SATA

insted of

100GB 7200 RPM SATA

I can afford one or the other of these options, so what should I get?, RAID0 or better screen?

PS. Would raid0 affect battery life?,since its 2hdds spinning?

Cheers,

I would choose better monitor.Especially if you're going to use the laptop for work(many hours),it's important to have a good monitor. You can always buy an external hard drive if you need more space. But you can't buy a new monitor for the laptop ;)

Please post in the correct section next time...

As for the questions, I'd go with the lesser res screen(even non wide-screen) for a few reasons. Personally, I don't play games or watch movies constantly on my laptop. Considering everything else is made for the 4:3 resoultions(or resolutions around 1024x768) ones much higher will cause things to display incorrectly. Maybe things will be more formated for these resolutions and what not in a few years...

As for the drives, I'd DEFINETLY go with a single drive setup. A 4200RPM drive gets much better battery life than a 5200. I can't imagine what a pair of 7200 drives would do! Plus that's one extra thing to fail, extra heat, extra weight...

Perhaps I'm just too frugal :P

I dont know which laptop to get now, I was planning on getting the alienware m9700, but after reading some reviews I noticed that it might be too big to cary around every day, and the battery power wont last very long when playing games or videos. ( The reviews said its more for people wanting to replace a desktop, or go to LAN partys- I just need to take it to uni, trains, plains etc)

My other choice was the m3450, since its small, but the graphics card that comes with that wont be able to handle any games, and the built in wireless card aint that good either.

The reason I went for alienware was that they have nice looking laptops, and this is really importaint. I also had a look at the dell xps, seemed nice, but it had DELL written all over it....I dont like DELL ,also, it would prob have the same size/battery issues as the m9700-but iv not read any reviews on it yet.

I also had a look at the lambo vx1 and the ferrari's, but still no luck. I really want to find a nice looking laptop, that is powerful, got a nice graphics card, portable, and long lasting battery. <<Anyone know of any? (in the UK btw)

Thanks

EDIT::

Actually, im now looking at the Area-51® m5550 laptop, its got a 15.4" screen, so is smaller than the m9700, but still has a decent graphics card in it, the 256MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 7600. On the downside, its not as nice looking as the m9700 :(
