Defrag - how can I make it better?

Hey,

Wondering how I can make defrag do a better job. I've noticed it's done a good job in the past and windows was faster.. well I guess I don't use windows defrag as much as it should, it doesn't seem to lik eme doing other stuff while that is going on. Is there a way of scheduling it or doing something better with it?

Running xp sp 2, 2.5ghz, 256 RAM.

You can try using a 3rd party software for your defraging needs. I use Diskeeper 9 and it is set to defrag the hd on the weekends around 2 am. It has a lot of options and features you can download a trial copy from their site.

your not supposed to be doing anything whilst windows is defregging, it depletes the point of defragging

i also use diskeeper lite,the free version of the software,
i honestly believe its a way better utility over the windows defragger.
and when u do use it, use it a couple of times over n over for maximum effect.

I use Disk Keeper and the Windows Defrag, since they operate differently. Disk Keeper actually removes all the fragmentation, and the Windows Defrag clumps everything together and ultimately saves space/improves speed (not to a noticeable extent, but still...I'd like to think that I can notice it).

no no i prefer perfect disk defrager its the first and the fastest
