Defrag

Could somebody please tell me how to use defrag? :confused: A friend of mine said you had to go on start-run- and type in defrag, but it doesn't work!!!
Thanks in advance!

If you have Windows XP (I'm saying that because I'm not sure if its the same in other OS's) it can be found in:
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter

Or alternatively :)

Go to my computer, right-click on the DRIVE you want to defragment and select properties -> tools -> defragmentation. That should do the trick. This is supposing you have Windows XP. Just that you know....defragmentation puts files that are scattered around the HDD back to place and therefore improve access speeds and overall performance.

1. Start --> Run --> defrag
2. Click whatever button looks something like "start" or "go" or whatnot

It should work. Of course you can open My COmputer, right click on the target drive and goto tools --> defrag

*why is this in gen chat??? :P

I just use regular defragment, or Norton's speed disk which defrags it also.
Whats so bad about the regular defrag?

The real deal-maker, for the PC Plus testers, are the five different defragmentation methods which completely reorganize your file system and prevent further fragmentation. This places O&O Defrag head-and-shoulders above the rest. For example, the verdict on Executive Diskeeper V8 ran as follows: "Ultimately...Diskeeper is eclipsed by O&O Defrag, which can also reorganise the data on your drive as you fragment, thereby delivering even better performance increases."

Just Google it and find out all the benefits.

Well generally speaking defrag is somewhat futile. Sure you get some benifits for the next boot or two .... but those benifits are quite negligible. :(
