Dell 17'' LCD Monitor Question

I have a Dell 17'' Monitor, It powers on and shows a great display for about 3 sec, Then the screen goes dark. I turn it off then back on and the display will come on for about 3 sec then go black. What is causeing this? Post your thoughts. Thanks

Could be the backlight on your LCD playing up. Best to try it on another computer if you can to dismiss the video card,

It happens on other computers as well.
