Dell 4400 won't power up

Hello :)
I have a Dell dimension 4400 that shows no sign of life when the power button is pushed (no boot, not even a flicker on the screen).
With the case open i do see a small red light on the motherboard that is working, but other than that- nothing.
The problem seems to have started when some kind of spyware removal tool was used. I am told that they ran the spyware remover and were prompted to reboot to complete the process. When the computer fired up they were taken to the "windows has recovered from a serious error" screen, at which time they rebooted again. This is where the computer stopped responding to anything.
Any help appriciated and thank-you in advance.

A problem like that isn't going to be software related. Make sure that the power switch hasn't come loose from the motherboard, and, naturally, that the PC is plugged in. A faulty power supply is a likely suspect.

Thanks for the reply :)
Is there anyway i can test this power supply?(it is all plugged in properly and i do see a small red L.E.D. on the motherboard which leads me to believe there is some power comming to the mb.)
I like testing stuff and the kids who own this unit don't have much money so i would like to pinpoint the problem before i start spending thier cash.
Is there a pinout for the power supply available on this site so i could actually check where the failure is. I did try the search feature but i have had no luck.

Thanks for reading
