Dell bios default

Does anybody know if there is a default password to get into a dell computers bios that is password protected? Mine got protected somehow and I did not do it, but Dell says I have to pay them a maintenance/service agreement fee to get it unlocked :mad:
 
Look on the motherboard for jumpers marked clr rtc or you can try removing the battery for a few minutes or so. What model of dell do you have?
 
I've done a search online and since its a laptop, its a little more difficult. Most hits I've found required calling dell to get a master reset password.

Thanks, I tried that and they want $$ to do so. Since I did not set a password I believe the pc came from them with it. Therefore, it galls me to pay for it!!
 
If its not under warranty then yes, you will have to pay. If its under warranty, then they should help you.
