alright guys i recently acquired a c400 well they are like netbooks no cd or floppy and this doesnt support booting from usb. what im wanting is someone that is familiar with a network install to help me figure this out so i can get windows xp on it

It's got USB ports right? what about eSATa or firewire? something you can use to plug in an external dvd reader.

I'd look at the link but my capped net is bad, and to make matters worse it's dropping out every ~2 mintues...

so i have been fiddling with this all night.

i took the hard drive put it in another laptop installed win98 and then swapped it back well of course no drivers installed, but my question is if i do that then use a usb cd rom or flash drive with windows xp on that and run the install do you guys think it will install fine?

if not im still open to suggestions i also found this

1) I used another laptop but you could use an adapter to use the hard drive in a regular computer.
2)boot with a windows 98 boot disk, fdisk it to a fat32 partition, make the hard drive a system boot disk (format /s c:)
3) copy the i386 folder and all its contents from a full or full oem (not branded) disk to the laptop drive, also copy smartdrv and highmem.sys from the floppy (speeds thing up dramitically) and create a config.sys file with device=highmem.sys
4)physically install the hard drive back into the C400, boot to dos run smartdrv.exe, then go to the i386 folder and type winnt.exe (enter) wooo should work.

that's all too complicated for me. You'll have to ask someone who knows more than me about windows.
