Dell - Can't Access System Recovery Partition?

Hi,

My Dell Inspiron 1545 has crashed and when it boots it gets to the black screen with 0x000 blah blah - so I decided to do a recovery but nothing comes up - so I got a copy of vista that I have for my pc and put it in and went to do a fresh install, and noticed there is a recovery partition on the partition list.

How do I access this? as nothing comes up with pressing F8 or ctrl and F11 etc - does anyone know how to access?
 
I done that, but it just comes up with;

Safe Mode,
Safe Mode Networking
Safe Mode Command Prompt

Last Known Config.
Start Normally

Thats all that comes up
 
did you not make a copy of the recovery partition when prompted to do so at the 1st boot?

see if you can boot into safemode and find an option somewhere to try make a recovery disk (might work)
 
I just decided to format the partition and reinstall and it got right through and it came up with;

Windows Could not prepare the computer to boot into th next phase of installation. To install windows, restart the installation - its came up with that 3 times now.
