hi my dell latitude d410s laptop screen is floppy it was like it when i recieved it second hand but a couple of days ago it went completly wont hold at any angle

does anbody know how to fix that

new screen ?
new laptop ?
simple to fix ?

First, try taking the D410 bezel off and tighten the hinge screws. If that doesn't fix it, then you'll have to replace the hinges, which involves taking the screen apart.

In my experience it usually isn't the hinges themselves that are the problem but what they are attached to. Usually it's the back part of the LCD assembly that is the problem but sometimes it's the bottom half of the lower housing. What happens is that the screw holes that the hinge attaches to weaken and break loose from the rest of the housing. My recommended fix is the dissemble the laptop so you have access to the problem area and then coat the hinge and where it attaches in a high strength epoxy. Replacing the broken parts is another option but I would only do that if it's a nicer/newer laptop.
