Everytime i turn my laptop on, it straight away goes through the Dell Diagnostics Utility which i have to then cancel before it will boot into Windows

I have tried a bios update but its still happening... any ideas?

Sounds like a hdd problem.Perhaps you check under the hard disk or file corruption are Bad Track

Bios has been updated to most recent and I have removed everything (cd drive, hdd, wireless card, modem etc) and it still boots up the same :(

From my searches, the most common answer is that it is a motherboard issue unless Bios is not detecting the HDD, then most suggest it to be a bad HDD. If it is still under warranty you'll be alright.

I would remove the CMOS battery and the main battery for overnight. Put both batterys back in, reconfig your bios. Could also be bad ram or ram slot. I would try one stick of ram at a time and/or download ramtest86 and burn the iso to a cd. The company I work for we use to have d610's I know the heat exchange on those get really clogged with dust. You might want to blow compressed air in the oposit direction, in from the vent in the back, forcing the stuff out past the fan.
