Hi all

I've recently bought a Dell Dimension 3000 from the internet, (eBay £51). It works a treat, runs Photoshop, speeds through the internet well enough. I can play some of the old games I like, Baldur's Gate, C&C Generals. However, I bought Football Manager 2011 and I'm unable to run it! I think I need an Intel 82915G or greater.

Ive looked at my graphics card and I have this:-

Chip Type- Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller
Manufacturer - Intel Corporation
DAC - Internal.

I'm wondering if i'm able to replace my graphics car or is this built into the Motherboard itself. If I CAN replace it, would anyone know the maximum graphics card it can cope with?

The processor is Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80Ghz, 2038MB RAM

Thanks for reading.

Pete

First off, Your current GPU is integrated into your chipset. So you can not simply remove it. But there are generally still ways to upgrade your graphics.

Step 1 is to find a new power supply. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153166 would be fine for it. This is needed because your current one started out as barely enough, likely 250-300 watts MAX, and capacitor aging has lowered that to barely nothing left. Even new, a GPU would require a new PSU.

Step 2 is to find out what slots you have. You are pretty much SOL here, as you only have PCI. That means that the best GPU you can get at all is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500262. You might be able to get something used, but I would not count on it.

simple to say, you are going to spend more trying to get that computer to run that game than it would be to buy a used laptop and run it there. Could get that for only slightly more than what you will be out attempting to get that desktop to run it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Latitu...32332074?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item5d3ba07d2a
