Dell Dimension 8200

Hi. I have a Dell Dimension 8200 [email protected] with 512mb Rdram and recently (Decmber 2005) installed a Geforce 6800 vanilla card. My question is: should I get more ram (rdram is expensive), get a 6800gs/7800gs (if I had waited a few months I would have never gotten this 6800 vanilla) or build a new one. I have HL2, TRL, FEAR, Splinter Cell 1 and 3, and run some in medium settings. I kind of think about building but I have feelings for my PC and can't make my mind! Thanks for any opinion.

well you could build one better and be more happy when you play games and you will probaly grow to love the built one way better than the 8200 cause you put all the time and effort into it and the feeling of accomplishment when you build it

1. I would build a new one

2. How much can you spend on a new computer

3. With a new comp you could get an AMD based system which would be better for gaming

on a simple note, you could just replace the motherboard to eliminate the need for rdram (would actually work out cheaper that way)

but if you want to get things running faster for gaming then the guys above have the idea

Thanks for the reply. I think the next question would be if to wait a bit more to see what the new cpus and videocards coming or to build one now?

I wouldnt upgrade anything on your computer. Your computer is pretty much balenced out now, and like you said RDRAM is expensive (I had the same problem as you cause I also had an 8200). I would build a new one, if not now a little down the road.

I would build now, theres little point in waiting for new computer technology. You could wait for socket AM2 and conroe to come out, but even thats pointless waiting for IMHO.
