dell dimension 8300

You will NOT be able to upgrade to a Dual core CPU. Your motherboard will not support it.

You will need to get a whole new system if you want to go to a Dual core.

Finding a new motherboard that will install in a Dell case is next to impossible. And if you do, it will cost 4 times what a standard ATX motherboard would cost. But good luck finding one that will fit in your case.

You are just another one of the millions of people that have fallen to Dell's practice of using proprietary parts in their systems.

You can not upgrade the mother board in the existing case!

Just do it yourself....save a lotta money and do a better job....

You could buy an ATX mobo and mark where the holes are, through the mobo and on the mobo tray, with a sharpie.. and drill the holes yourself..

I'd recommend having someone very experienced do this for you, should you choose to do so.. not to say you're not experienced, just a precaution ;)

However, ATX cases are fairly inexpensive now :)

That motherboard and chip will fit in that case, BUT, the motherboard is made by a company called Elitegroup. They are not one of the top board manufactures and not very well liked. I have never owned one so I can not say what they are like. But I would pass on this one and get one by either Gigabyte or Asus. Those are the top 2 companys.

Also, buying computer parts from ebay is not the smartest way to get parts. You would be better off buying from www.newegg.com or some other online company. That way you get full support for returning the device if something goes wrong.

Also, I am not a big fan of that case. The power supply that comes with it only supports the ATX12v 1.1 standard, so if you are buying a newer motherboard, you might have to replace the power supply to a version 2.0 or better. It also has no removable hard drive cages. To sum it up, it is a very cheap case.
