I am looking into a new Dell. The Gateway that I have now is 7 years old so I am due for a new computer. The XPS 400 with most of the same components as the E510 is about $160 more. The XPS includes the Pentium D4 2.80 GHz, and the E510 includes the Pentium 4 3.0 GHz. The computer will be mostly used for word processing, internet surfing, photos and some music. Any suggestions? Thanks!

well for ur simple uses i think a dell will be good. im saying this becuase im sure some people will reccoemend building it urself, which will save u money but isnt needed. so i wuld get the pentium d, if u plan on doin all the things u listed at once with no lag.

how much ram are u getting in each of these?

1GB of RAM. Also, I will not be using for gaming.

The Dell would be the superior choice here.

Id reccomend building it or getting someone to build for you regardless ... save some money :)
