Dell has just bought Alienware

You guys do know dell is the worlds leading computer sales place right???

Dell sucks, Alienware support sucks, actually all computer companies in my opinion suck.

Build your own save money and get better quality.

Hmm...interesting purchase... Anyone know what brand motherboards Alienware used? Any specific brand or just whatever they could get? What about dells? I've worked on a few(they are halfway decent machines...) and I'm quite sure all Dells are propriatary. However, I never took the time to run CPUz and see what brand showed up.

I'm just thinking...will Dell change to Alienware hardware, vise versa, or just put Alienware down so they have the gamming PC market :P

Alienware was too overpriced anyway. With Dell, maybe the gaming computer costs will go down, good for everyone.

Dell uses Intel chipsets and so forth. Not to sure about the motherboard itself. I think dell actually makes them thierselves.

The dell I have says Dell on the motherboard but... I'm not positive.

I believe that you're right, in fact for awhile Dell made the RAM proprietary as well, but that was short-lived because so many people were getting ticked about it. I always think that it's funny when companies do this we're acquiring them, but the management is going to stay the same and the company will remain a separate entity. Can we say load of C R A P! All this means is that Dell didn't want to anger more people, and in about 1.5 to 2 years they will "re-structure" the company, and get rid of these people. Just enough time for people to forget about the promises in the first place! Grr, sometimes corporation REALLY annoy me with their cload and dagger routines.

I dont believe that saying "dell/alienware is crap" is the correct way to put it either...

Dell has good priced machines, which are of great value, for a certain type of people.

Alienware is expensive, but a very good machine for the computer gamer. If you have the money and dont need to sell a kidney (yes you have 2) to get one... Then by all means waste the money.

But either way most computers will be below the average line in 8-10 months...

probably neither, they will just keep running it for the most part as it it, maybe pushing dells manufacturing scale onto it a little, the last thing dell want is to alter it; why would they have bought it if they were just going to change it?
The average high street buyer will never even know about the new owners.
