Dell help please urgent

Hi I have a dell Inspiron 530 and I've tried everything to restore or format my pc with no success so I need to change the hard drive could anyone help and let me no what type of hard drive my Inspiron 530 takes so I can get a new one thanks
 
You may not need a new hard drive. Do you have the Diagnostic/Utility disk from dell and also the disk from dell for reinstalling the operating system?

What exactly is wrong with the computer? Please be detailed.

Hi windows has become corrupt it's always crashing and freezing and when I shut it down it never turns off I've to hold the power button or plug it out sadly I no longer have any CDs belong to the pc as its 5years old so I think changing the hard drive is the easiest thing to do
 
Yeah, sounds like the drive is bad. You'll have to contact dell to see if they still have recovery cd's available for that specific model of computer. If not, you'll have to purchase a new copy of windows as well.
