Ok i have had a dell demension 4600 just sitting their for about 6 months. today i decided to take a look at it, still no luck running. my bro said about 6 months ago he dropped a speaker wire on the mobo and he said he saw sparks, lol, this was while we were at dinner( i know i shoulda not trusted him and put the cover on or sumthing, my bad).

Anyway, so i was trying to get it to work, and it seems to be that the mobo is fried. The cpu is still in their and i figure it should be running, because i fried my current pc's mobo wen i first got it and i returned it and got a new one and it worked, all the parts fine and working. So i have an extra 400watt psu laying aroud, and my stock intel 3.2 ghtz heatsink that im not using. I want to put that together with the 2.8 ghtz dell processor, and the ram, video card, and hdd from the dell.

Do you guys think it will work if buy a new mobo and case, mabe another 9mm fan?? Also I want to know what socket the processor is, ive been looking on google and cant find it. Hope you can help:D :D

Well, are the pins on the processor or are the on the board? If they're on the CPU it's an S478 most likely (I doubt it's a S423), if the pins are on the board it's a S775. OR you could just read the processor after you remove it from the mobo (cause you're going to remove it from the mobo anyway) and see what it says on it then just post that back. If the CPU is still working you can go ahead and stick it in a new mobo, nothing wrong with that.

mabe another 9mm fan??
I get a sneaking feeling that not gonna be very effective cooler

You can count :P Or look at the mobo to read where it says "Socket ....." (and if it dont say, then it a LGA775)
