Dell Inspiron 5000e Power Problem of Some Sort

I have a 2001 Dell Inspiron 5000e laptop that wont power on. Whenever i press the power button, the battery light turn on on the computer and stays on until i unplug the computer from the wall or battery. :confused: I have taken it a part and made sure that every thing was getting a goood connection and every thing is.:mad: I have i have tried everything. The we replace the bezel tim arund the screen and it work fine for about 3 mouth and them everything stop working. I dont now what is wrong. Can someone help?:confused:

is the battery dead? it may not hold a charge anymore... that sounds like a major culprit when you unplug the thing and it powers off...
