Dell making beep beep sounds when i take out some ram

Hey does anyone know why when i take a 256 mem of ram out from my dell it starts beeping when i boot it up? I have 512 in total so obiously i left 256 mem of ram in. I have a hunch that its dell's way of checking up if the system is running good and is ready to ship and to be sold... Please help i really want to steal that 256 ram from my sister's comp lol

i know that most mobo's give a sound when there is no RAM connected.. does that pc regognize the whole 512Mb when its booted up?

make sure its in the right way, it doesnt wiggle around and its properly connected

I left one in good a tight the mobo wotn boot up with less the 512 mb

iirc, the beeping noises are some kind of warning on dells
look around in their support page

I give up lol I'll live with just 512 for now i definatly need a gig of ram rendering graphics is a killer

i was looking in their support site and someone said you can turn the beeping noise off by pressing CTRL+A when your comp boots up

EDIT: apparently there are error codes shown by beeping on servers
